What is Premier League Queensland (PLQ)?
PLQ is a prestigious bowls league in Queensland that has been running for 25 years. It features the South East QLD's top clubs and players competing in a fast-paced, high-energy format.

How does the PLQ format work?
Clubs field teams in two grades: Premier Grade and Reserve Grade
Premier Grade: Matches are played over 21 ends on three rinks, with each team fielding 12 players (4 players per rink).
Reserve Grade: Matches are played over 21 ends on four rinks, with each team fielding 16 players (4 players per rink).

When does the PLQ season take place?
The PLQ season typically runs from February 1st to March 23rd, including finals. Specific dates vary each year.

What makes PLQ Different?
No dead ends are allowed; if the jack is knocked out of bounds, it is re-spotted on a designated 2 meter mark. Kill Rule applies to one nominated end read more in the conditions of play here - Conditions of Play 2025
Clubs are allowed to nominate marquee players (e.g., interstate players) under specific eligibility rules (2 per side)

When are the Finals?
The competition runs through a regular season of home-and-away matches.
At the end of the regular season, the top 5 teams in each grade progress to a finals series.
The finals weekend includes elimination matches, culminating in a Grand Final to determine the champions.

How much is the Prize Money?

Premier League:
Winner: $25,000
Runner-up: $12,500
3rd: $6,000
4th: $4,500
5th: $3,000
Total: $51,000

Reserve Grade:
Winner: $8,000
Runner-up: $5,000
3rd: $2,500
4th: $2,000
5th: $1,000
Total: $18,500

Additional Payments:
Premier Grade rink wins: $40 per rink for non-prize-winning clubs.
Reserve Grade rink wins: $20 per rink for non-prize-winning clubs.
Skip Bonuses: $1,000 for Premier Grade, $500 for Reserve Grade.
